FLIGHT TRAINING and CHECK FLIGHTS

Club instructors are pilots (identified by a Green stripe on their membership cards) who volunteer to teach new members basic aerodynamics, preflight procedures and general piloting skills needed to complete a proficiency check.  Members interested in obtaining instruction should attend a club meeting, discuss their training needs with members at the field or contact our training coordinator via the Contact Us link on the Resource menu.
Student and Trainer

PWCRCF requires that any new member, or student ready for unassisted flying, successfully pass a basic set of pilot proficiency requirements.  Student pilots will be identified by a red stripe on their membership card until these requirements are signed off by a designated club instructor.  New members and students completing these requirements will be issued a qualified pilot membership card.  This card is required for a member to fly without instructor supervision at club fields.

We can help you every step of the way, from aircraft selection to your check flight. Just ask!

Heli Clinic Part Deux

E-mail Print PDF

A great time was had by all at our second Heli clinic, expertly organized by Gary Robinson! Several new members of "The Dark Side" were initiated, achieving air under their skids for the first time! Lots of good information exchange took place - between experienced heli fliers and those with fewer crashes under their belts! We even grilled some dogs for lunch! But the best part was that there were no major crashes all day - the worst case was a minor tail strike on Doug's beautiful new TRex 500, resulting in a slipping torque tube. But I'm sure he'll have it in primo shape by the next BoD meeting this week...

We will plan more of these events over the flying season, so stay tuned and come out and join the fun!

Heli Clinic part1

A helicopter rigging and setup clinic was held to facilitate heli-newcomers questions and provide assistance working out some settings and general configuration by a few more seasoned heli pilots, (well one at least... Marsh of course) The clinic went through the setup of Gary Robinson's Trex 450 and took it to first flight. Thanks to all for participating and making this another great and fun time for all!

(Check out the Heli Clinic (part 1) 2009 for the remainder of the pictures!)
